Couples Counseling
Helping partners build stronger, healthier relationships through deeper understanding.
Every relationship faces challenges—whether it's about communication, emotional distance, or navigating life’s many transitions. At Shine Within, we offer couples counseling that’s compassionate, practical, and grounded in evidence-based tools that foster healing and deeper connection.
Whether you're dating, engaged, married, or somewhere in between, couples therapy can be a powerful way to grow closer, resolve lingering issues, and build a strong foundation for the future.
What We Offer
As a Certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator, I use one of the most trusted relationship assessment tools available to help couples gain a clear understanding of their strengths and areas for growth. Together, we explore topics such as communication, conflict, emotional needs, family systems, intimacy, finances, and values.
I also incorporate the How We Love framework by Milan & Kay Yerkovich—a powerful attachment-based model that helps couples understand how their early life experiences influence their current relational patterns. By identifying your “love style,” you can begin to shift reactive dynamics and replace them with connection, compassion, and healthy communication.
Common Reasons Couples Seek Counseling:
-
Constant arguing or emotional disconnection
-
Rebuilding trust after betrayal or distance
-
Differences in parenting, finances, or priorities
-
Pre-marital preparation and clarity
-
Intimacy concerns—emotional or physical
-
Feeling more like roommates than partners
-
Navigating life transitions (new baby, career changes, loss)
-
Wanting to grow together spiritually or rediscover shared values
No matter your stage or story, couples counseling can help you create a stronger, more intentional relationship.
Our Approach: Structured, Supportive, and Insight-Driven
🔹 Prepare/Enrich
You'll begin with an in-depth online assessment that evaluates key areas of your relationship. This gives us a clear road map and helps guide meaningful conversation and growth in session.
🔹 Attachment-Focused Therapy
Using research from attachment theory, we explore each partner’s emotional wiring and how it impacts the relationship. Many couples find great relief in finally understanding the deeper “why” behind their recurring conflicts.
🔹 The How We Love Model
This model helps couples recognize their “core pattern”—the dance they get stuck in when stress or conflict arises. By understanding your love style, you can begin healing emotional wounds and creating a more secure, connected partnership.
🔹 Faith-Based Integration (Optional)
For couples who desire it, I offer a Christian, faith-informed perspective rooted in grace, restoration, and biblical principles. Whether it’s prayer, Scripture, or aligning your relationship with your shared faith values, I’m here to support that journey—without pressure and always with sensitivity.
If you're not seeking a faith-based approach, no worries—our work together will still be deeply respectful, evidence-based, and tailored to your unique goals and values.
